"Komodo Dragon" is the thirteenth track from the soundtrack for the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall. While Adele's song for the film, "Skyfall," does not appear on the soundtrack, this particular track contains an instrumental interpolation of the song, therefore making Adele and Paul Epworth co-writers of the song with Thomas Newman.[1]
Monty Norman, responsible for writing the original James Bond theme, also appears as a co-writer, as the theme also makes an appearance in "Komodo Dragon."
Background[]
When asked about the incorporation of Adele's "Skyfall" theme in the film's score, Newman revealed that:
“ | Michael Wilson had asked where I was going to use the Adele song so that it didn’t appear as a kind of 'one off' at the top of the movie. And the scene where he enters the Macau casino with his new, shaved appearance and tuxedo was a real moment of 'Bond' swagger. The Adele tune has that quality to it too, so that seemed like a good place to reprieve the song.[2] | ” |
J. A. C. Redford was responsible for the song's orchestrations.[2]
