"Need Your Love So Bad" is a blues song first published in 1955 and written by Mertis John Jr. It was covered by Paul Weller and Adele for a special 6 Music session at the BBC studios at Maida Vale. It was peformed along with their duet of Weller's song "You Do Something to Me" and Adele's single "Chasing Pavements".

Weller discussed why the track had been chosen for them to perform:

Adele had further gone into detail on why the song was chosen, saying:
| “ | Initially I chose I’m Gonna Make You Love Me by Diana Ross and The Supremes with the Temptations. I hadn’t really heard it for a good couple of years and I got home from Amsterdam and thought, ‘Oh God, that Temptations part is too high, I don’t think Paul will be able to sing it. And then Diana Ross comes in. You know how there’s certain artists that can get away with talking on the song, saying like, ‘Hey Baby’. I’m not one of them. | ” |
