"Right as Rain" appears as the eighth track on Adele's debut album, 19. It is preceded by "First Love" and followed by "Make You Feel My Love". "Right as Rain" was written by Adele, Nicholas Anthony Movshon, Leon Marcus Michels, Jeffrey Scott Silverman, and Clay Holley. The track was the final song written for 19.
Background and compositionEdit
The song is speculated to be written about the ex-boyfriend who inspired the majority of the songs on the album. It was written in the key of F Major. On the album version of the track, Adele played the cowbell, while her touring guitarist and close friend Ben Thomas played the guitar.
Live performances and promotionEdit
"Right as Rain" was heavily promoted and performed on various occasions, most notably during Adele's second promotional tour, the Adele Live tour, in which it was the only non-single from 19 to be promoted on the tour. It was also performed during the iTunes Festival and of course, the An Evening With Adele tour, which promoted her debut album 19.
The song was also performed on the American television series Ugly Betty. Adele's appearance on the show helped the episode to gain generally positive reviews. The song was used in the season 2 episode of Lipstick Jungle entitled "Pandora's Box". Due to the song's heavy promotion, it was speculated to be released as a single but never was.
It is currently the featured song on Adele's MySpace page.
