"Producers are thrilled by how well the song has been received and hope Adele’s presence in the next film will replicate that success", a source has stated. Yes, various news reports are stating Adele has already signed on or is in the process of signing on to sing the theme for Bond 24 following the success of "Skyfall". Late last year, Daniel Craig was quoted as saying that he desperately wanted Sam Mendes to direct the next Bond film after the success of Skyfall, and he wanted Adele to sing the theme song again. “They want her to become as synonymous with Bond as Dame Shirley", the source continued, making reference to Shirley Bassey, who sang Bond themes for three films.
The film is due out by Winter 2014, which could imply a late 2013 or early 2014 release for the song. Adele has recently revealed she is "desperate" to find inspiration for new music and will release it when she is ready, though, although "Skyfall" was inspired by the film's plot.
This could be another huge career boost for Adele - the songstress, who currenlty holds the spot for fourth-best-selling-album of all-time in the UK for 21, has also had the album certified Diamond by the RIAA; in addition to this, it is the best-selling album of the 21st Century and the best-selling album in the US for the past two years. Following the success of "Skyfall", which has sold over three million digital copies and won the Oscar for Best Original Song, it would only make sense for Adele to sing the next theme as well. Another good sign she might is that following her recording of "Skyfall", Adele developed a friendship with Daniel Craig, who has portrayed Bond in the last three Bond films and has signed on for at least two more. In addition, 21 and "Skyfall" both received boosts in digital sales following Adele's appearance at the Oscars, where she performed the song for the first and possibly last time, as one report suggests she plans to retire the song after the Oscars, and won the award for Best Original Song.
Whether this is true or not, it sure sounds like it is. We can only hope that a new album and Bond theme from Adele are on the way very soon.
